Everyone’s heard of the Air Max 1; but most don’t know about the one before the 1. The shoe with a window bag so big that it literally burst in the cold. For most, this setback would have brought a swift demise to the Air Max, but Tinker and team were fueled to go back to the drawing board - again, and again, and again...

Now, over 30 years later, we’re bringing back the ’86. Big bubble and all! It’s more than a nostalgic look back, it’s an ode to the maximalist mindset, where burst bags and broken dreams aren’t the end of the road but the first step towards the finished product.

The Air Max 1 was our biggest f*ck up and it resulted in the greatest shoe of all Time.

The holy grail of sneaker lore returns along with the true story of visible Nike Air. Using CT scans (yes, really) to dissect 1 of maybe only 400,000 released pairs of the 'Big Bubble', we replicated the Nike Air unit and window used in the '86 original, so you can step on the bedrock of sneaker history. And don't worry, you still get the throwback color-blocking.
