ADIDAS "ZX8000" ATMOS
The milestone 10th installment of the iconic collaborative ZX 8000 series by atmos and adidas Originals is here.
This commemorative model celebrates atmos’ 25th anniversary by reimagining the very first ZX 8000 collaboration released in 2010 — the legendary
“AQUA” — with an inverted color scheme. Appropriately named the ZX 8000 atmos “URA”, this model pays homage to the original while flipping it on
its head.
From the very first release, atmos’ ZX 8000 collaborations have featured a distinct GID-SNK (GLOW IN THE DARK-SNAKE) pattern, incorporating
glow-in-the-dark snakeskin-like materials and reflective accents. This latest model continues that legacy with added detail — the outsole now also
features the same snakeskin pattern and glow-in-the-dark finish, offering continuity even underneath the foot.
The nylon mesh upper retains design cues from the original ZX 8000, while the inner lining features the phrase “I WANT, I CAN” — a nod to the
slogan first seen on the 1989 OG ZX 8000 model. The insole is printed with a composite logo, and hidden beneath it lies an engraved message that
reflects on the journey of atmos and its deep-rooted connection with the ZX series in the Ura-Harajuku scene.
To further celebrate the release, three hip-hop acts have created original tracks inspired by the model. Leading with OG-style rapper Senninsho, and
representing the new generation are itachi and BIG FAF & me2. These collaborations embody the 25th anniversary theme “Onko Chishin” —
honoring the past to inform the future — symbolizing atmos’ roots and its evolution toward the next generation.
The ZX 8000 atmos “URA” marks a major milestone not only in number but also in attention to detail — bringing fresh sophistication to the iconic
silhouette. It’s a premium pair that expresses the concept of the “hidden side” shared by both atmos and adidas Originals.
