In anticipation of the 35th anniversary of the GEL-LYTE III in 2025, this is the fifth special project in which Shigeyuki Kunii, who serves as the creative director of mita sneakers and is involved in a wide range of sneaker projects from global projects to the direction of domestic in-line releases, has been invited as a design creator.
The GEL-LYTE III is a lightweight running shoe that was released in 1990 and is representative of the ASICS Sportstyle line, featuring a "split tongue" structure that divides the tongue vertically into two large sections to enhance the fit.
This model, dubbed "Black Panther," is a colorway that follows the design concept of the GEL-LYTE III (released in 2010) and GEL-MAI (released in 2017), which were created in collaboration with 'mita sneakers' with a black panther theme.
In addition to incorporating "GORE-TEX®" for superior waterproofing and breathability, this special edition features familiar details seen in previous collaborations with the store, such as a zippered "split tongue," quilting, TPU mesh, pull tabs and piping, and a graphic insole combining "CHAIN LINK FENCE" and "Tokyo Kai."
This limited edition, available globally, features a sophisticated monochrome color scheme, accented with leopard print nylon and a brightly colored heel tab.
